As the 2016-17 school year wound down to a close, the Nashville Hornettes volleyball team handed out team awards for the 2016 season. Six players received awards for their play during the season. The Nashville Hornets Bass Fishing team competed at the Conference Tournament at Kinkaid Lake just outside of Murphysboro. Eight teams competed in the tournament with Pinckneyville finishing third, Nashville finishing second, and Murphysboro taking first place.
Nashville High School played host to baseball camps this past week as kids between kindergarten and ninth grade took to the ball diamond for camps held at Nashville Community High School. The Southern Illinois River to River Conference announced their All-Conference team for the Mississippi Division this past week, with a total of seven Hornettes making the team. Three Nashville players made the first team, while four Hornettes made the second team. The Hornettes finished with three players on the SIRR All-Conference First Team, Mississippi Division.
After a season in which the Nashville Hornets baseball team finished 30-7, won the Southern Illinois River to River: Mississippi Division, won the Red Bud Regional, and won the Benton Sectional, it was no surprise the Hornets would be well-represented on the SIRR Mississippi Division All-Conference team.
