If you build it, they will come. Or in the case of the Washington Historical Society and the Murphysboro Clarkes, if you host it, they will come.
Hosting the Clarkes, and their opponents, The St. Louis Union, for a game of 1860-rules base ball (two words then), is what the Historical Society has done, and come they shall.
The game will be held on Saturday, April 29, at Diamond Across the Creek number 4 in Memorial Park in Nashville, from 1 to 4 p.m.
The game is a free event and will be fun for the whole family. Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
The teams will play without gloves, with politeness and even compliments for their opponents, and will give everyone who comes out an idea of just how our national pastime got its start.
