Twenty NCHS art students attended the annual Chalk Walk Art Competition hosted by Steeleville High School.
Surrounding schools participated in the event. Students are grouped into teams of four students from their own school. Nashville had five teams participating this year, with about 40 to 50 teams competing this year.
A theme is announced at the beginning of the competition and teams must work together to create a parking space size chalk mural on the black top parking lot. Students get almost four hours to complete their mural.
Judges look for the communication of the theme, originality, and skill. This year’s theme was “Music gives the soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything. – Plato”.
One of the NCHS Teams (ABOVE) tied for first place with Triad High School. This is NCHS’ second time taking a first place, NCHS students went in 2015, taking first place.
