Mr. Kenneth Eugene May, of Nashville, departed this life at Washington County Hospital ER in Nashville, on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 6:35 P.M. He had attained the age of 85 years, 7 months and 27 days.
Mr. May was born on November 8, 1931 in Nashville. He was the son of Melroy Carter and Nellie Mae (McCoy) May. He was united in marriage to Florence “Grace” Brammeier on March 2, 1956 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Nashville and she preceded him in death on December 19, 2014.
Kenneth was a member of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nashville, where he served as a Deacon for the church. He played basketball in High School and helped win 4th in State in 1949. He worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for many years, until his retirement in 1991.
Left to mourn his passing are his three children, Carolyn Hacker and husband Craig of Chesterfield, Mo., Diane Twardoski and husband Frank of Smithton, and David May and wife Chris of Woodbridge, Va.; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Brian Hacker, Michael and Amanda Twardoski and Drew and Mary May; three sisters-in-law, Betty May, Georgine May and Margaret Snyder and husband Duke; a brother-in-law, Glen Brammeier and wife Pat; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, Albert, Floyd, Virgil and Donnie May and a sister Melba Smith.
Funeral services will be held at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Scott Sharp officiating. Interment will follow in the Masonic Cemetery in Nashville. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 110.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 8 A.M. until the service hour.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
