Milton “Sonny” Kellerman, age 92, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 7:08 p.m. in Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon.
Sonny was born on February 18, 1925 in Pinckneyville, a son to Adam and Ann (Ledendecker) Kellerman. On November 27, 1952, he married Theresa Waier in Radom, and she survives. Sonny was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Korean War and in the United States Navy during World War II. Sonny was a carpenter with his brother Albert at Kellerman Brothers Construction. He was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, the American Legion and was the oldest charter member of the Knights of Columbus. He coached baseball and softball, was an avid Cardinals baseball fan, loved sports, bowling and carpentry work, especially cabinet making.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Kellerman of Pinckneyville; two sons, Michael Kellerman and Morris Kellerman, both of Pinckneyville; two daughters, Diane (Ruben) Davis of Pinckneyville, and Danette (Scott) Newberry of Islamorada, Fla.; one sister, Mary Ann (Norman) Kellar of Maryland Heights, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Kellerman and Frances Kellerman, both of Pinckneyville; two grandchildren, Derek and Taylor Beninati; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter in infancy, Amy Kellerman; one sister, Theresa Epplin; three brothers, Cliff Kellerman, Norman Kellerman and Albert “Al” Kellerman; one brother-in-law, Lawrence Epplin; and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Kellerman.
Funeral services will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Augustine Ibezimako officiating. Interment will be in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, with military graveside rites by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville.
Friends may call at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Bruno Catholic School, Pinckneyville.
