Mr. Arthur “Archie” R. Fuqua
Mr. Arthur “Archie” R. Fuqua of Oakdale, departed this life at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 5:53 A.M. He had attained the age of 70 years, 5 months and 28 days.
Mr. Fuqua was born on August 8, 1947 in Belleville, the son of Arson and Darleen (nee Wisely) Fuqua. He was united in marriage to Gertrude “Gertie” Borowiak on October 24, 1970 at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Posen, and she survives his passing.
Archie was a member of the United States Army having served from 1966 to 1968. Archie was a skilled carpenter and was the owner and operator of the Oakdale Lumber Company in Oakdale, from 1984 until present. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oakdale, and the Oakdale Saddle Club. Archie enjoyed anything having to do with his horses and he loved collecting antiques.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife Gertie Fuqua of Oakdale; three children, Scotty Fuqua and wife Melissa of Oakdale, Jodi Alfeldt and husband Tim of Aurora, Colo., and Kristy Meier and husband Chuck of Tulsa, Okla..; five grandchildren, Kylee, Keaton and Konner Fuqua and Megan and Drew Alfeldt; his parents, Arson and Darleen Fuqua of Oakdale; two sisters, Judy Kinney and husband Wayne of Oakdale and Effie Campbell of New Athens; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Gary Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at the United Presbyterian Church in Oakdale, on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 10 A.M. with Rev. John Campbell and Rev. Phil Carson officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakdale City Cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Siteman Cancer Center, Rocky Mountain Multiple Sclerosis Center or the Rocky Mountain Down Syndrome Association and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
