Arvin Richard August Windler

Mr. Arvin Richard August Windler of Palm City, Fla., formerly of New Minden, departed this life at the Palm City Nursing and Rehab of Palm City, Fla., on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 12:30 A.M. He had attained the age of 84 years, 6 months and 28 days.

Mr. Windler was born on January 29, 1932 in New Minden, the son of Theodore and Lena (Schuette) Windler. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Windler for 44 years and raised two daughters.

Arvin was a machinist at Nashville Mine Service Company in Nashville for 34 years. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in New Minden where he served as the youth group leader and held various offices including president, secretary, treasurer, chairman and he was also a member of the Choir for over 39 years. Arvin helped with the elderly and sick, transporting them to their doctor visits. He was the manager of the Little League Baseball in New Minden, and was a member of the New Minden Community Club. He was an avid fan of the Nashville Hornets and he enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

Left to mourn his passing is his two daughters, Lynnette Shew and husband Matt of New Minden, and Patti Hendricks and husband Gregg of Palm City, Fla.,; a sister, Elaine Spenner and husband Virgil of Hoyleton; six grandchildren, Logan Gill and special friend Jaci Lake, Lacey Gill and special friend Austin Edge, Wyatt Shew, Sierra, Preston and Pierson Hendricks; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Hilmar Windler and two sisters, Elvirda Moehle and Norma Harre.

Per the wishes of Arvin and his family, cremation was performed and a memorial service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church of New Minden, on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11 AM with Pastor Timothy Mueller officiating.

Friends may call at the St. John Lutheran Church of New Minden, on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 10 A.M. until the service hour.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church or American Diabetes Association and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
