The Nashville Community High School Board held a special meeting on Monday, August 7, regarding personnel.

Specifically, the meeting was to interview and vote on hiring a new principal for NCHS. Following a closed session, the board voted to hire Mark Begando as the new NCHS principal.

Begando comes to NCHS by way of Woodriver-Hartford School District 15, where he served as principal and transportation director at Hartford Elementary School, a pre-K through fifth grade school located in Hartford, Ill.

“We interviewed nine or ten candidates and when we were done, the four of us all agreed that this was the strongest candidate,” said Ernie Fowler, the NCHS, District Superintendent.

Fowler said that the four person search committee was made up of himself, Jennifer Maschhoff, NCHS Dean of Students; Tesha Maschhoff, NCHS Guidance Director; Christina Robinson, Nashville Education Association President.

The board also voted to hire a new Freshman Volleyball Coach for the district, Lori Schnitker.
