October 15, Zion Evangelical UCC Worship schedule is 9:00 am. Children’s Sunday School and 10:00 am. Worship. Pastor Bill Causer’s sermon is titled “Think About These Things”.

The Scriptures are from Philippians 4:1-9 and Matthew 22:1-10. Pastor Bill says he has been thinking a lot about the divisions that are a part of life in our society.

There is much more to our relationship with God and each other than saying together on Sunday morning, “Lord, Lord”. We must do God’s will. We must live in God’s grace.

We can come to Christ as we are, but we cannot stay as we are! Jeff Spinks will be the Organist/Pianist. All are welcome to join us as we worship God as a community and live out the UCC’s “3 Loves” program to Love Children, Love Neighbor, and Love Creation.

The Church Council will meet after Worship. Zion will be working on Hygiene Kits for Disaster victims. Bring your completed kits to church on October 15. During that week we will be assembling 100 kits in the Fellowship Hall – watch for date and time. All of our kits will be taken to the Illinois South Conference Annual Meeting on Oct. 21st.

From there all of the ISC’s 80 church’s kits will be delivered to a Church World Service Drop Off location to be dispersed to those in need.

October 15 also marks the debut of Trinity Hoyleton’s dinner/theatre “Luther Day.” This is a story about the a day in the lives of Martin and Katie Luther. Katie has a party planned and has invited other major players of the Reformation. Come for some laughs, singing, and good Lutheran theology. The event starts at 5:00 p.m. with tickets selling for $20 apiece.

Call Janet Unverfehrt at 618-493-6264 or 618-830-9777.

As the finale to their 150th Anniversary celebration, the play will be performed in the Activity Center by area pastors and teachers. The play was written by Steve and Marge Kasten.

October 22 marks the 3rd Annual Washington County BBQ Championship. This Sunday will find the Village Park full of delicious wafting scents of premium chicken, pork, and brisket recipes.

A Vendor Fair is also being held in conjunction with this event.

Please contact Craig Suedmeyer for information on either part of this event at 618-214-0310. A lunch stand will be operated by the Trinity PTL as a variety of foods, fun, and fellowship are being offered.
