The three NCHS seniors from the Nashville Hornettes basketball team were back on the court Friday night as they played in the 40th Annual Lions Club Classic. Rachael Kell, Karly Stanowski, and Paige Kasten were joined by Hornettes coach Doug Althoff on the gold team in the game. Althoff coached the gold team. The gold team took the win in the game. Harrisburg’s Lotte Miller was named MVP.
Stanowksi, Kell and Kasten teamed with some of the best players from Southern Illinois as they took part in the game.
Making up the rest of the Gold Team, was Meridith Flamm of Cobden, Lindsey Holhubner of Vienna, Paige Tucker, Jada Hale and Brooek Wilderman all of Sesser-Valier/Waltonville, Lauren Coakley of Massac County, Mergan Beery of West Frankfort, and Katherine Drone of Hamilton.
On the Purple team was Alexis Crain, Ra’Kyah Jeter, Cymone Ballard, and Ra’Keya Jeter, all of Meridian; Grace Haney of DuQuoin; Jessica Hopson of Harrisburg; Abby Bayer of Marion; Madison Russell and Marissa Russell of Herrin; Lucille Smith of Wayne City; Taylor Thompson and Savannah Childers of Mt. Vernon; and Arie Ciganovich of Murphysboro.
Stanowski led all players with 16 points in the game. Stanowski also pulled down nine rebounds. Kasten scored six points in the game. Kell scored three points in the game.
All three of the Nashville seniors competed in the Three-Point Competition, which was held during halftime of the girls game. The three point competition was won by Harrisburg’s Jessica Hopson.
