For the second straight season, the Nashville Hornets boys basketball team will have a representative at State in the IHSA Three Point Showdown. Last season Trevor Meier finished fourth in Class 2A last season. This season, Terry Pelczynski Jr. will try his hand at Carver Arena as he made 10 of 15 shots at Sectionals to advance to the State competition on Thursday March 8.
Pelczynski came into the competition with advice from, Meier, last year’s state finalist. “I talked to Trevor (Meier) a little bit, and he said to just have confidence, and that’s really what my dad said. Just have confidence.”
Pelczynski finished tied for second at Sectionals with 10 made shots out of 15. Brock Nelson, of Greenville was the leader with 12. Chase Selby, of Johnston City, also finished with 10. The final shooter that advanced to Sectionals was Karson Huels, who made nine in the opening round, but had to go to a shootout, where he made six out of ten to advance to State.
Pelczynski talked about advancing to State. ““It’s nice. I shot the ball well. Trying to follow in my dad’s footsteps. His senior year, he made it to state in the three point contest, so I’m just trying to do the same as him.”
