After already breaking the school record for rebounds and joining the 1000 point club this season, Hornettes senior Karly Stanowski wasn’t done adding to her milestones. This past week in the first game of the postseason against Althoff, Stanowski became the first player in NCHS history to grab 1000 rebounds.
After the game, Stanowski talked about reaching 1000. “It’s a pretty great feeling, especially knowing that no one has done it. To quote coach Althoff, someone who can’t jump very high and is only 5’9” playing center, its pretty hard to do, but I wrestle my way around down there.”
Stanowski currently has 1012 career rebounds, and 263 this season alone.
Stanowski has started for the Hornettes since her Freshmen year, and recorded a double double in her first varsity game.
Hornettes coach Doug Althoff also talked about the accomplishment, “My god, 1000 points and 1000 rebounds. Nobody has done that here. That’s an unbelievable stat line. 1000 rebounds is just, its amazing really if you think about it.”
