Season Winds Down For The Jr. Hornettes

The Nashville Jr. Hornettes girls volleyball team is heading towards the end of the season, with just two regular season matchups remaining before Regionals. The Jr. Hornettes A-team dropped two of three matches this week as they took on DuQuoin, Trico, and Murphysboro.
On March 7, the Jr. Hornettes traveled to take on DuQuoin in a conference showdown. The A-team lost a close game one, 25-19 before dropping game two 25-12. Whitley Hunter and Samantha Edwards each notched three kills in the loss, while Havalen Pierce led the team with two aces. Reagen Burke was a force at the net with two blocks in the loss.
The B-team also suffered a loss as they dropped game one 25-17 before dropping game two 25-15. Jordan Donato and Emma Eberhart each had two kills in the loss.
The C-team prevented a sweep as they took the win over DuQuoin. The C-team grabbed an 18-14 win in game one before winning game two 16-13. Valerie Combs was hot at the service line as she finished with nine aces in the win. Eberhart led the C-team with two kills.
The Jr. Hornettes got a sweep in their next matchup as they took on Trico on March 8. The A-team got things started with a 25-22 victory in game one, before taking control in game two with a 25-13 lead. Hunter led Nashville with five kills and tied for the team lead, along with Edwards with four aces.
The B-team needed three games, but pulled out a win over Trico. The B-team dropped the first game 25-22 but bounced back for a 25-18 win in game two and sealed the win with a 15-10 win in Game three. Daphne Kollbaum filled up the stat sheet with seven aces and three kills in the win.
The C-team also got the win with two narrow wins. In game one, Nashville got a three point victory 25-21, before taking game two 10-8. Korbi Rhine finished with three aces in the win, while Eberhart led Nashville with one kill.
The last matchup of the week saw the Jr. Hornettes take on Murphysboro on March 9. The A-team suffered a big loss in game one as Murphysboro took the game 25-9, but kept things close in game two and almost pulled out a win. Murphysboro took the game 25-23. Hunter led the team with two kills and one block, while Edwards finished with two aces to to lead Nashville.
The B-team took the win against Murphysboro as they bounced back from a 25-15 loss in game one to take the final two games. Nashville took game two 25-15 before taking game three 15-10. Kollbaum led the team with five aces, while Donato finished with four kills to lead the Jr. Hornettes.
The C-team also got a win over Murphysboro as they took game one 25-14, and squeaked out a 15-14 win in game two. Rhine, Daci Finke and Baylie Newman each had one kill, while Hope Liszewski, Rhine Finke, and Jill Kuhl each got on the stat sheet with two aces.
