Titans Finish Fifth At Trinity Edwardsville Tip-Off Tournament

The TSJ/ILS Lady Titans finished fifth in the Trinity Edwardsville Tip-Off Tournament as they finished 3-1 in the tournament. The Lady Titans defeated Peoria Concordia, St. Charles Immanuel, and Springfield Our Savior's, and suffered their only loss of the tournament agaist Trinity Bloomington.

The Lady Titans got the tournament started with a 31-11 win over Peoria Concordia. TSJ/ILS put the game out of reach in the first half of the contest, as they outscored Peoria Concordia 17-2 in the first half of play. The Lady Titans would extend their lead to 27-3 after three quarters of play, and cruised to an easy win in the fourth.

Katie May led the Lady Titans led with 13 points in the game. Madisyn Wienstroer added six points foolwed by Megan Rennegarbe and Cayla Krueger with four points apiece. Halley Rueter and Kris May each scored two points in the win.

The Lady Titans next game was up against Trinity Bloomington. A close game in the first half, Trinity Bloomington put the game away in the third quarter to win 22-14. The Lady Titans trailed by three at the end of the first, but came back to lead 10-9 at halftime. Trinity Bloomington would hold TSJ/ILS scoreless in the third quarter, and outscore the Lady Titans 8-0. In the fourth, the Lady Titans could not make a comeback and fell 22-14.

Katie May finished with six points, followed by Wienstroer with four points. Krueger and Obermeier scored two points apice in the loss.

The Lady Titans got back on the winning track with a 20-15 win over St. Charles Immanuel. The Lady Titans had a great first half, as they outscored St. Charles Immanuel 12-4. St. Charles Immanuel made a run in the third, as they outscored TSJ/ILS 9-3, but could not complete the comeback, as the Lady Titans put the game away in the fourth for a five point victory.

Katie May finished with nine points in the win, followed by Krueger with seven points. Rennegarbe and Wienstroer each finished with two points to round out the scoring.

The Lady Titans had their final game of the tournament against Springfield Our Savior's. The Lady Titans used a huge fourth quarter to pull away for a 30-17 victory. The Lady Titans started out slow, as they fell behind 7-2 at the end of the first quarter. TSJ/ILS chipped away in the second, and cut the Springfield Our Savior's to just three points at the halftime break. TSJ/ILS came alive in the second half, as they outscored Springfield Our Savior's 8-4 in the third to take a one point lead into the final quarter of play. In the fourth, TSJ/ILS shut out their opponent and outscored them 12-0 in the frame to grab a 13 point victory.

Wienstroer finsihed with 12 points to lead the Lady Titans. Katie May added seven points. Krueger finished with five points, while Rueter finished with three points. Obermeier added two points, and Rennegarbe finished with one point in the win.
